Places to visit

Of course this depends on whether you want to leave the site at all! But if you fancy exploring more of what East Yorkshire has to offer we have listed some of our favourites around the local area below.

Fraisthorpe Beach

Fraisthorpe Beach

Wild and rugged sandy dunes lead down to miles of unspoilt golden sand to wander along, even at high tide there’s always plenty of beach to enjoy heading either north (to Bridlington) or south (to Barmston). A lovely café called The Cow Shed provides welcome drinks and snacks after you’ve blown the cobwebs away on the beach!

Beverley

Beverley

This quaint market town has all your shopping and eating out needs covered – it’s full of top end high street surprises and independent places to hide away with a cuppa or tasty street food as you watch the world go by. Saturday is market day if you want to head into the centre to wander round the many stalls of local and further afield treats!

Dramatic Coast at Flamborough cliffs

Flamborough Head

Flamborough Head never fails to amaze with it’s jaw-dropping views at every turn along the dramatic cliffs, coves and caves. Explore the bays and don’t miss the Seal colony at the ‘drinking dinosaur’ rock formation just near the famous Flamborough Lighthouse. You might be lucky enough to spot dolphins swimming as you watch from the clifftops too!

Hull Fruit Market

Hull ‘Fruit Market’

Hull ‘Fruit Market’ Urban Village/Waterfront area and the Minster & Museum Quarter are part of Hull’s recent regeneration and earned it the UK’s City of Culture status back in 2017. Independent shops and eateries line the cobbles if you need some refreshment after taking in Hull & East Riding’s maritime history in the Old Town Museum Quarter.
