FAQs

Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions , if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us

Is bedding included?

Your tents will be set up with cosy bedding on all the beds ready for your arrival (just bring your own towels or hire them from us). In the lodges towels are provided.

What are the toilet & shower facilities?

Kingfisher Lakes has luxury underfloor-heated washrooms on site, all with proper flushing toilets, basins and hot water. Toilet roll, sanitary disposal bags, hand wash and paper towels are all provided.

What are the kitchen/cooking facilities?

The kitchen barn and covered picnic area has plenty of room for guests to store items and cook during their stay. There is a large fridge/freezer, microwave, kettles, toasters, sink, all pots/pans/utensils/crockery/cutlery and mugs are provided, there are two 4-ring gas hob cooking areas.

Please note there is no Oven provided. In addition to the kitchen facilities, there are charcoal BBQs and utensils available for use at the kitchen barn or take one over to your tent. We do not supply charcoal so you will need to bring some with you, or grab some from the village store nearby which has a plentiful supply of BBQ lighting supplies.

How far is it to get some food/drink?

There is a very well-stocked village store open (7am – 10pm) and also a Costcutter (open from 7am-8pm) in Brandesburton village, just a 3 minute drive away. Tesco superstores are located in Beverley, Bridlington and Hornsea, all about 20 minutes away. There is a fantastic bistro on the edge of Brandesburton village open all day called Bert’s for brunch, lunch and dinner. The village also has a deli/bakery, a fish & chip shop, a Chinese restaurant & takeaway, as well as two pubs serving large portions of pub-grub.

Where do I park?

Our car park is on site next to the wash block, so your car won’t be too far away from your tent or lodge. We ask guests to keep the entrance gate closed as they come and go from the site to ensure more security for all residents. We also have CCTV cameras on the entrance and car park area.

Is there phone/wifi signal?

You should be able to get a good 4G phone signal all around the site no problem and we also have some wifi across the site. We suggest you download any movies or podcasts to your devices before your arrival as streaming may not be possible. Please respect our peaceful site policy (no speakers or amplified music/movies at any time; quiet time from 10pm – 8am).

What is the noise policy?

We operate a peaceful site policy and trust that all guests want to truly experience being in nature when they come to stay. This means we do not allow the use of speakers/amplified music at any time. We also wish everyone a restful stay so request that any noise is kept to a minimum from 10pm to 8am; whisper-level chat round a campfire or in your own tent after this time is acceptable but please be aware any noise travels further at night, especially across the lake, and is audible through canvas!

Do you accept dogs/pets?

No, we are sorry but we cannot accept dogs or any other pets on site at any time.

What about the Kayak Hire?

Kayaking at Kingfisher Lakes is a unique experience and thoroughly enjoyable to set off from right in front of your tent to paddle away on one of the kayaks we hire out. You can add this on at booking stage or let us know before your arrival to ensure there is availability as we have limited numbers in order to keep the lake peaceful. The kayaks are large hard-shell 2-3 seaters; hire cost starts from £45 for the duration of a 2-3 night stay.
Parents/Adults must accompany/supervise their children at all times when on the lake. Kayaking is suitable for children 6 years and above.

Can I fish on the lakes during my stay?

Yes, if you have your own equipment and Rod Licence for freshwater fishing in England & Wales. The species we know of inhabiting the lakes are: Perch, Tench, Rudd, Roach, Bream, Carp and Pike.

Can I bring my own paddleboard?

Sorry but we cannot permit the use of paddleboards or any other vessels on our lakes due to safety and insurance restrictions. You can of course choose to hire our 2-3 seater sit on top kayaks for the duration of your stay (£45 for a weekend).

Can I swim in the lakes?

Sorry but we cannot permit swimming in the lakes (even for experienced open-water swimmers) due to the nature of the extremely deep water (30ft in parts!) and the fact there are numerous fallen trees just under the surface. To enjoy the water you must stay on the kayaks at all times!

What time is check-in/check-out?

On your arrival day, you are welcome anytime from 4pm. Our dedicated team work really hard preparing all the accommodation and grounds on changeover days to have everything ready for your arrival from 4pm – 8pm. If you are in the area before 4pm we recommend a visit to Bert’s in Brandesburton for fabulous food & drink at their lakeside bistro, as well as a play area, adventure golf and foot golf! There is also a larger playground in Brandesburton village.

On your leaving day, I’m afraid we will have to wave you off by 10am (12noon on Sundays).

Am I allowed to bring visitors?

Unfortunately we are unable to allow any visitors due to the small peaceful nature of our site and facilities, so if you are arranging to meet family or friends during your stay, please do so off site.
