Cycling on your East Yorkshire Holiday

We were delighted to welcome a Dutch family who had cycled to Kingfisher Lakes for their family Summer holiday this August! This inspirational bunch ride bikes everywhere at home in The Netherlands with their two small children (aged 3 and 5) in tow, and their holiday to East Yorkshire was no different to them.

They took the overnight ferry from Rotterdam to Hull and then set off on their bikes on the 15 mile journey from the ferry port in Hull to Brandesburton, with hardly a bead of sweat on their brows when they arrived with us! We showed them to their bell tent which would be their home for the week and chatted to them about their travels. The kids were a bit tired with the little one stopping to lay down on the grass and curl up for a nap in the afternoon sun, you can hardly blame him after his ferry and cycling adventure!

They enjoyed getting out and about on their bikes to Beverley and to the beaches too, spending time on site kayaking and cooking in the campsite kitchen barn too. The kids made friends and a group of them had a little tour of the potato field with Rob who helped them dig some potatoes for their tea!

We absolutely LOVED meeting these guys and having them around, learning about their lives in Holland and we hope they’ll come back again on their Summer Holidays in the future.
