Yorkshire Puffin Festival 2025

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Puffin Festival is back again this year on Saturday 7th – Sunday 8th June, and is a must see during your trip to the Yorkshire Coast right now!

Spring/ early Summer is THE best time to see Puffins until they head off back out to the North Sea from July, and Flamborough Head here on the East Yorkshire Coast (the big headland that juts out into the sea on the map of Yorkshire) is one of the best places in the UK to see Puffins from land.

These much-loved seabirds have such character and are such a joy to see, especially when you catch a glimpse of their colourful beaks and feet, and if you’re super lucky, their little ‘Puffling’ chicks balancing precariously on the cliff edge. They look too cute to be real, both the adults and the chicks!

Visiting Flamborough is a great trip out from the site at any time of year. There are always Seals to be seen as they’ve colonised the coves at the so-called ‘Drinking Dinosaur’ rock formation just a few hundred metres from the Lighthouse Car Park area above. You will also always be able to see Gannets (check out their amazing eyeliner!) and Razorbills, plus so many other seabirds all living side by side at ‘Seabird City’. There’s also the wonderful Living Seas Events Centre at Flamborough’s South Landing; this educational and visitor centre will be full of things your budding nature enthusiasts will want to soak up – like the dates that certain species of Whales & Dolphins were spotted swimming by recently!
