đŸŸ A Blog About “No Dog”
 (From People Who Love Them!)

Let’s address the fluffy elephant in the room

“Yes, we love dogs.”
“No, sadly they can’t come and stay with us.”

We know, we know—it might seem a little surprising. After all, who doesn’t love a wagging tail, a muddy nose, and that look that says “I definitely didn’t eat your sandwich”?

So we thought we’d write a little blog to explain why we made this decision—because it really does come from a good place (and not a lack of dog cuddles on our part!).

đŸ¶ First things first: we are dog people

We’re not just saying that—as a family we have always had dogs of our own (here’s a pic our current best 4-legged friend Alf), and we fully understand that they’re part of the family. Holidays without them can feel a bit like you’ve left a suitcase behind.

But
(you knew there was a “but” coming!)

🌿 The great outdoors
 and its challenges

Kingfisher Lakes is designed to be beautifully open and free-flowing. That’s part of what makes it feel so peaceful here—no clutter, no barriers, just nature doing its thing.

However, that same open-plan layout also makes it a tricky environment for dogs. There are lots of unfenced areas, plenty of tempting sights and smells of the surrounding wildlife, and—let’s be honest—a strong possibility that your four-legged friend might decide to go on their own little adventure.

We’d love to believe every dog has perfect recall
but we’ve met enough cheeky ones to know that’s not always the case!

🌊 The lakes: beautiful but very deep

Now, let’s talk about the lakes themselves—because they really are the stars of the show.

They’re also deep, and have some tricky vegetation and huge fallen trees sunken into the waters.

While they look calm and inviting (and they are, for the right activities like kayaking and fishing), they’re not ideally suited for dogs.

And nobody wants a relaxing break to turn into a rescue mission.

đŸŸ Keeping everyone safe (two-legged and four)

At the heart of this decision is something simple: safety.

  • Safety for dogs
  • Peace of mind for owners
  • And a relaxing environment for all our guests

We want everyone who stays here to fully unwind—not to feel like they need to keep one eye permanently on a wandering tail disappearing into the reeds.

😄 So it’s not “no dogs”
 it’s “no worries”

We like to think of it less as a restriction and more as a way of protecting what makes Kingfisher Lakes special—for everyone.

You get uninterrupted peace, stunning views, and a chance to switch off completely in your Safari Tent, Yurt or Lodge.

And your dog gets
 well
an exciting holiday of their own elsewhere, with plenty of stories to tell when you’re reunited!

💛 A final word from fellow dog lovers

We totally understand that this won’t suit everyone—and that’s okay. There are lots of fantastic dog-friendly places out there doing a brilliant job.

For us, though, creating a calm, safe, and serene environment here meant making a tough decision.

Even if it does break our dog-loving hearts just a tiny bit.

P.S. If you’ve got a photo of your dog looking unimpressed that they didn’t get invited
we’d still love to see it đŸ¶đŸ˜„
