Accessible Glamping Holidays
Since the site began welcoming guests in 2017, fantastic holidays have been had by numerous couples, families and groups with a broad range of mobility needs. You will have our full support prior to booking your ideal stay so we can help you with your individual requirements. Everyone’s needs will be different, and at different times, but rest assured that accessibility to the countryside and wonderful lakeside views is important to us as a family and a business, here’s a bit of information about how we try to make a personal difference to you and your perfect break…
The washrooms shared by glamping guests have a ladies side and a gents side, with a private accessible bathroom located at the front of the building. This has a permanent ramp access off a large paved area, so it’s ideal for us to offer this Doc-M set up as the bathroom your wheelchair user will use during their stay. Simply let us know prior to your arrival that you will need to make use of this facility.
Hare’s Hideout Safari Tent is the largest accessible tent here, closest to the Doc M bathroom (10 metres over a paved area), and with inbuilt ramp access to the raised decking area. There is a spacious living area, and a wider opening into one of the bedrooms where you’ll find your cosy beds! Outdoors you’ve got a large table and benches underneath the balcony canopy for outdoor living whatever the weather!

Barn Owl Bell Tent is the perfect middle ground if you’re wanting a bit more of a ‘camping remotely’ adventure, this one is available through the warmer Summer months only (it doesn’t have a log burner inside). It’s pretty much a ready-made pitched up tent with comfy beds and electricity (plus fridge & small kettle). You’ll be the last tent on a row of 3 tents down a level, grassed field with unobstructed views of the lake, surrounding fields and spectacular sunsets! You can hire a firepit/logs package for campfire nights toasting marshmallows.
We will go above and beyond to help you plan your stay and ensure you have all the information at hand prior to booking so you can be sure Kingfisher Lakes fulfils your requirements; from distances to cover in a wheelchair, to assistance from us to go kayaking, to measurements of bed heights; basically whatever you need just give us a call and we’ll be happy to help!
June & Richard at Hare’s Hideout Safari Tent where they enjoyed their first lakeside glamping experience. Since then they’ve been to stay at all different times of year in one of the lakeside Lodges with Hot Tubs too!
Jamie & his daughter Winne enjoying some time at East Yorkshire’s beaches during their Glamping stay in the Bell Tent in Summer 2024. We can’t wait to see them back again soon!
